WHITEFIELD — The White Mountains Regional School Board discussed a proposed amendment to its student athletic participation policy (JJIC) concerning transgender athletes on Thursday. Currently, the policy allows transgender athletes to compete according to their gender identity. However, an Executive Order from the President, which prohibits transgender athletes from participating in high school sports, has prompted the board to reconsider its stance. The Trump administration has warned that it may withdraw federal funding from schools that do not comply. During the meeting, the board agreed to postpone any decisions until they can assess the consequences of not aligning with the Executive Order.
