LANCASTER — The municipal water system needs costly upgrades. To address this, town officials have drafted a Water Asset Management Program (AMP) update, anticipating $38 million in capital spending over the next decade for six projects. Key expenses include $18.4 million for replacing 1,295 service connections by 2037, as mandated by the Environmental Protection Agency. If the town secures Drinking Water State Revolving Fund (DWSRF) funding with 71% principal forgiveness, ratepayers would be responsible for $5.3 million. All projects are subject to town approval. The final version of the Asset Management Plan update will be adopted at a later date.
