A Select Board in one town has unanimously voted to write a letter of support for the conservation of 750 riverfront acres that are in the process of being purchased by Ammonoosuc Conservation Trust (ACT) through grant money and private donations. The parcel extends from the bottom of Prospect Street in Bethlehem to Route 116 along the Ammonoosuc River. For a member of one conservation commission, a benefit of the purchase would be to prevent a possible future siting of an artificial intelligence data center, which she said is increasingly emerging across the country and uses much energy and water. “[ACT] would purchase the land and use it for conservation efforts, allowing snowmobile trails, biking trails, running trails, hiking trails, and things like that, but not development. The land is a popular snowmobile corridor that goes from Bethlehem into Whitefield.
