LYNDON — The District 7 Environmental Commission on Friday issued a draft Act 250 permit for a proposed $16.9 million National Guard Readiness Center. The Vermont Military Department seeks permission to build the readiness center next to Vermont State University-Lyndon, on a 36-acre strip of land between Back Center Road and Interstate 91. It would disturb approximately 10 acres. The proposed permit would allow for the construction of a 28,800-square-foot, two-story readiness center, 82-space parking lot, and 5,000-square-foot cold storage building for vehicles and equipment. According to the District 7 Environmental Commission, no public hearing is planned, and an Act 250 permit can be issued on or before Jan. 2.
