WATERFORD — Residents of Old County Road South went to the Select Board on Monday to complain about the pace of road repairs after Hurricane Beryl. Three months after the devastating July 10 storm, homeowners delivered a petition with 25 signatures asking the town to swiftly re-open Mad Brook Road, the neighborhood’s fastest connection to primary road Route 18. Road Foreman Jim Hayes said the road should be re-opened with a temporary bridge-and-culvert system by the end of the month. Explaining the delay, Hayes said a state-approved hydraulic study had been required before work could begin. He said the temporary one-lane bridge would be sufficient to re-open the road until permanent repairs can be done.
